Four Stages of Mesothelioma

When the mesothelioma is confirmed after the variety of tests conduction, the next stage of mesothelioma is known as staging. Staging is basically a process use to find out that how much mesothelioma has spread in the body. CT scan and MRI’s are the most common imaging studies done which help the doctor to get actual information about the severity of the mesothelioma stages. It is very important to determine as it is used for the further treatment and prognosis. Commonly used chart to the measurement of staging is but chart system. Staging system is used for the pleural mesothelioma because it is the type which is very common among the people.

Lets us check out every stage individually, which will help you to understand mesothelioma more clearly.
Stage 01:
1st stage is the beginning period of mesothelioma. In this stage the disease is not as much harmful as it could be in later stages. In this stage tumor containing cancerous particles are found in the pleura of the lungs. Pleura is basically a covering layer which protects lungs from the disturbance of the functions of other organs of the body.

Stage 02:
When the second stage arrives, cancerous particles of mesothelioma spread out from the pleura to chest. Now these particles are presented in chest wall, heart, chest node or in esophagus along with the lungs pleura. It may also possible that these particles are entered in to the lymph of the chest. This is more critical situation as these particles have covered chest area.

Stage 03:
In the third stage of mesothelioma these particles of cancers are prevailed in the peritoneum. Peritoneum is the covering layer which protects heart from the other organ of the body.  These particles are also presented in lymph nodes.

Stage 04:
This is the last stage of mesothelioma; in this stage mesothelioma reaches at its peak level. Cancerous particles are spread out throughout the body through bloodstream and have affected all the organs of the body.
