In this stage tumor containing cancerous particles are found in the pleura of the lungs. Pleura is basically a covering layer which protects lungs from the disturbance of the functions of other organs of the body.

Stage 02:
When the second stage arrives, cancerous particles of mesothelioma spread out from the pleura to chest. Now these particles are presented in chest wall, heart, chest node or in esophagus along with the lungs pleura. It may also possible that these particles are entered in to the lymph of the chest. This is more critical situation as these particles have covered chest area.

Stage 03:
In the third stage of mesothelioma these particles of cancers are prevailed in the peritoneum. Peritoneum is the covering layer which protects heart from the other organ of the body.  These particles are also presented in lymph nodes.

Stage 04:
This is the last stage of mesothelioma; in this stage mesothelioma reaches at its peak level. Cancerous particles are spread out throughout the body through bloodstream and have affected all the organs of the body.

Signs of Mesothelioma

Mesothelioma is a kind of disaster in one’s life. Major issue with this disease is that its symptoms do not appear soon. It takes around 15 to 40 years to appear after the asbestos exposure which is quite critical. Due to this problem sometimes it becomes impossible to cure the patient properly. Symptoms like pain in chest and shortness of breath are the pointers towards this devastating disease.

There are different types of mesothelioma can occurs in human body. Every type has its own symptoms. If the patient have breathing issue and chest paining than they are the symptoms of pleural mesothelioma. While peritoneal mesothelioma has its own particular pointing factors like, sudden weight loss, swelling in abdomen and pain in stomach. Blood clothing, fever and anemia also points towards peritoneal mesothelioma.

If the disease has spread out from the origin to different parts of body than it may possible that other affected part may be swelled. It will also aggravate the disease. If the disease is attacking on the lungs than it may have symptoms like fatigue, blood in cough and pleural effusion. In the severe conditions many kinds of tumors may also developed in hum body.

Collapse of lungs in another serious signal of pleural mesothelioma and spreading of disease may cause collapse of other organs of human body. If the disease has spread severe effects on the whole body than some more severe symptoms occur while includes, thrombophlebitis (it is a result of clots in blood), pleural effusion (causes clogging in lungs and chest), disseminated intravascular coagulation (due to this bleeding occurs in different organs of the body), jaundice (eyes and skin becomes yellow) and pulmonary emboli (clotting in the arteries). This disease does not reach to your bone and glands as pleural occur at one side of lungs.

Symptoms of Mesothelioma

Mesothelioma is a kind of cancer which occurs very rare in human being. So the people who are haunted by this disease are mostly unaware of the name of this disease and do not have any knowledge about its symptoms.

Naturally, most of the organs of human body are covered with an outer protective layer named as, mesothelium. Mesothelioma occurs when cancerous cell developed in that protective layer. Heart, abdomen and lungs are commonly affected by this disease. Mesothelioma in lungs is the most common form of cancer.
Before reaching at the most advanced level, this disease shows fewer symptoms.

It remains dormant for more than 20 years. But when it activated, it meticulously attacked the targeted organ and spread quickly which makes it almost impossible to be treated completely. It has been observed than 75% of people who are affected by this disease die within the duration of one year. And few people able to survive for several years which is very uncommon situation.

Typical symptoms of pleural mesothelioma are chronic cough and/or breathing problem. It is obvious that these symptoms resemble to the symptoms of cold and allergies, so some people were not able to identify it correctly.

Their carelessness will lead their disease to more critical situation. In that situation some kind of tumor may also occur in human body. Out of these tumors, which affect the abdomen do not reflect any symptom until it reached to its last stage of cureless. Although tumor dose exceed the limit of chest and abdomen but still their presence is not a symptom of healthy so it must be diagnosed and remove even you have slight doubt about their presence.

Similarly other type this disease is peritoneal mesothelioma does not show its serious symptoms at early stages.
It is important that they should be cured more properly on time for which their diagnosis at early stage is important. So be aware of it.

Mesothelioma Lawyer Information

Mesothelioma Lawyer

Studies have shown that since the 1960s cases of mesothelioma have soared, with figures rising from 77 in 1968 to nearly 1500 in the year 2000. This figure has been steadily rising, and in many places around the world is nor expected to peak for another decade or two.

Mesothelioma is a deadly cancer that results from exposure to asbestos, and affects the cavities of the lungs, the heart or the abdomen. The malignant form of this cancer is incurable, and treatments are used to try and send it in to remission. However, because the disease dos not manifest for several decades following exposure to asbestos it is often too late for any effective treatment because the cancer is already in its advanced stages.

Because of the deadly nature of this disease, those that have contracted mesothelioma through asbestos exposure are usually entitled to financial compensation. The exposure usually occurs through unprotected working conditions or through the use of products that have insufficient warnings on them. Many asbestos manufacturers and firms that use asbestos products have been sued for billions or sent in to bankruptcy through compensation claims.

Those diagnosed with mesothelioma are entitled to compensation for a number of reasons. The first, most obvious reason is pain and suffering. The sufferer has effectively been robbed of his or her life though exposure to asbestos, and has to endure a great deal of physical and metal anguish as well as a much-reduced lifespan. Secondly, the family of the victim are also put through this mental anguish as they fact the prospect of losing a loved one. The family may also face the prospect of financial ruin once their loved one has passed away, and compensation is partly required to provide them with some sort of monetary stability. Finally, the expenses associated with medical bills for mesothelioma can be extremely high, and compensation goes some way towards funding these medical bills.

The rise in the number of mesothelioma cases has been accompanied by a rise in mesothelioma lawyers, and there are now many law firms and lawyers that specialise in mesothelioma cases. These professionals have succeeded in securing millions of dollars for mesothelioma patients, and an experienced mesothelioma lawyer can provide the support and expertise required to file a successful claim as well as provide you with details of other useful resources.

A mesothelioma lawyer will need to find out quite a lot of information about you and your background to put together a water-tight case, and because most states have statutes of limitation when in comes to filing claims it is important that you contact a lawyer as soon as possible after diagnosis. Your lawyer may have to do a good deal of research and investigating in order to collect the details required, and you should provide as much information and co-operation as possible to help speed up the process and maximise your chances of success.

Many people worry about the costs of taking legal action, but mesothelioma lawyerswork a little differently than other lawyers. They work on the basis of a contingency fee, which means that you do not pay a penny unless your lawsuit or compensation claim is successful. If and when you receive your settlement money, your lawyer will automatically deduct the fee. Although the legal fees can be as high as 35% on mesothelioma cases, this is taken straight from your settlement figure, so if you don’t win there are no financial implications and if you do win you still get around 65% of what could be a seven-figure settlement.

Mesothelioma - what is it

Find up to date, concise information on mesothelioma and important links. This is a resource center to help victims and their families deal with asbestos related lung cancer.

In the 20th century mesothelioma has emerged as a "modern" industrial technology disease affecting people who have been exposed directly or indirectly to asbestos during their lives. Based on imbedded fragments or fibers of asbestos that have been breathed in or which have otherwise migrated into the internal organ cavity of the body, mesothelioma strikes suddenly and lethally. While the current science remains incomplete on the mechanisms associated with the onset of mesothelioma, health researchers understand all too well that the disease locus typically is the external tissue sheathing known as the mesothelium surrounding organs such as the heart, spleen, liver, lungs or bowel.

In the wider context of health statistics relating to cancer formation in population, mesothelioma is considered by health analysts to be somewhat rare. While asbestos is a "trigger" factor, indeed a necessary pre-condition, mesothelioma does require the convergence of related health factors which include family gene history, diet, nutrition, other disease incidence, immune system robustness, use of tobacco products and a host of other health factors. Annually in the United States, about 2000 new mesothelioma cases are diagnosed, reflecting exposures dating 15 to 45 years earlier for the affected persons. Mesothelioma impacts both men and women, however due to industrial workplace demographics men dominate over disease incidence rates.

Adding to the predictive uncertainty about "who will get mesothelioma?" are data showing that many workers who occupied the identical asbestos-infected work environments fail to evidence mesothelioma, yet other workers fell victim to the Cancer. Meanwhile, family members who might have suffered "second hand asbestos" exposure due to Dad or Mom's work (where asbestos fibers remained on work clothing or on hair) have entered the medical data stream as victims of either mesothelioma or the non-cancerous asbestosis.

In order to determine whether you've developed a mesothelioma cancer, you need to understand and recognize the preliminary symptoms associating with the onset of full-blown diagnosable mesothelioma. Initial physical symptoms evidencing potential presence of mesothelioma Cancercells include shortness of breath, swelling of the abdomen, fever, uneven sleeping, muscle fatigue, coughing up blood, loss of appetite and weight loss, swelling of the face and limbs, amongst other indicators.

Diagnostic procedures used to confirm a mesothelioma cancer commence with a physical examination, where various measurements and assessments will be taken in order to establish some baseline of your health. A knowledgeable physician, through the interview process, will identify the asbestos factor as a key diagnostic reference point. Resulting diagnostic steps to verify the presence of mesothelioma may include an X-ray, thoracic surgery to directly observe internal organs. In the event that thoracic surgery is elected, then the surgeon will extract tissue samples to be taken to the lab for biopsy tests to determine the presence of mesothelioma Cancercells. Additional diagnostic procedures for mesothelioma may also include MRI screening.

Regrettably, mesothelioma moves quickly in its attack on the health and functioning of internal organs. Typically, persons diagnosed with malignant mesothelioma will have a life expectancy of no more than two years. Meanwhile, treatment therapies for mesothelioma will cost over $200,000 per year and may result in symptoms nearly as difficult as the mesothelioma disease itself. If you or family member or friend believe that you have a background asbestos exposure and are presently showing indicators of mesothelioma symptomology, then you should immediately consult your physician. For further information you can continue your research on this site. Further industry information on mesothelioma can be found at CancerInformation Service or The Mesothelioma Center.

Mesothelioma Lawyer

With an annual increase in the numbers of mesothelioma diagnoses, there are now both law firms and mesothelioma lawyers that specialise in taking on lawsuits for sufferers. These are lawsuits against employers, asbestos companies, manufacturers and basically anyone else that could be held responsible for the sufferer’s exposure to asbestos.

There are also legal options available for the families of mesothelioma victims, whether the sufferer is alive or has already died from the disease.

Mesothelioma lawyers are specialists who have been trained specifically in the field of mesothelioma lawsuits and mesothelioma settlements. They are therefore well equipped to deal with victims of this cancer, and can offer expert legal advice with regards to compensation and a settlement. There is no argument that mesothelioma patients should be entitled to some form of compensation. However, a good mesothelioma lawyer can advise you on how successful your claim is likely to be and what sort of compensation or settlement figure you may be looking at.

Compensation for mesothelioma patients in the past has reached figures up to millions of dollars. However, the amount awarded differs from case to case, and will depend on a number of factors such as the degree of illness, how much information you can provide and its accuracy, and whether the case is settled in or out of court. There are several reasons why mesothelioma sufferers are entitled to this compensation, the most obvious being the massively shortened life expectancy. Pain and suffering of both the patient and his family are also just reasons for compensation. Then there are factors such as medical expenses, loss of wages and financial support for the family after the sufferer’s death.

It is important that legal advice is sought as soon as a diagnosis of mesothelioma has been made and confirmed by a medical professional. Most states have statutes of limitation, and this means that there is a specified time period within which legal action must be taken from the date of diagnosis. These statutes of limitation tend to differ from state to state, and mesothelioma patients should always check what the time limit is within the state in which they plan to pursue the case.

Once a legal representative has been found, your mesothelioma lawyer will need as much information as possible with regards to when and where the patient worked with asbestos. This is to try and determine who was responsible for the asbestos exposure. Because it was such a long time ago, some sufferer's may not remember full details about their past employment, in which case the law firm can normally hire an investigator to find out more details. When the lawyer has all the necessary details, he or she can make a more accurate prediction as to how successful the case might be and what the compensatory package might be like.

Relatives of deceased mesothelioma victims are also able to seek compensation through a mesothelioma lawyer, but again must adhere to statutes of limitation. The legal representative will need a good deal of information from the relative in order to put together a sound case, and so it is always advisable to act as quickly as possible and certainly within the statutes of limitation.

Many mesothelioma sufferer’s worry about seeking legal advice because they believe that it was cost too much and that, should they fail to get compensation, they will still have to pay legal fees with money that they don’t have. However, this is not the case. Most mesothelioma lawyers work on a contingency fee basis. This means that there are no upfront fees payable at all; even the investigator, if one is required, is paid for by the law firm. The lawyer only gets paid in the event of a successful compensation claim, and the money is then taken automatically and the balance of the compensation paid to the client. The percentage taken by way of a fee is generally around 35%, leaving 65% or thereabouts for the client. And with the high dollar amounts usually awarded, this can result in payments of multi-million payments.

Mesothelioma victims and their families are perfectly entitled to file for compensation for many reasons. However, action must be taken promptly in order to increase the chances of a successful law suit or claim; use the form to the right to contact a mesothelioma lawyer today and begin the process.

This particular form of cancer affects the lungs and chest cavities by attacking the mesothelium cells within the pleura and peritoneum. It often occurs in individuals that have been exposed to asbestos over prolonged periods of time. Documented cases, state that the average length of time a person must be exposed to asbestos in order to develop mesothelioma cancer is at least 15 years.

There have been isolated cases, however, where individuals had little to no exposure to asbestos whatsoever but showed mesothelioma symptoms anyway. This is mainly due to a genetic predisposition to mesothelioma in certain individuals, and the general consensus among cancer researchers is that these individuals are born with a poor mesothelium cells structure.

As this form of cancer is only documented in countries that have a national mesothelioma registry, the exact number it effects on a global scale can only be approximated. Documented figures, however, show that there is an occurrence rate of 14.2 cases per million within the United States, 66 per million in Australia, and 55 per million in Spain.

Mesothelioma Causes
MesotheliomacancercauseThe main causes for the occurrence of mesothelioma seem to be the prolonged exposure to asbestos and asbestos-related fibers. Asbestos is responsible for cutting the surface of cells within the human body, thus compromising the cellular integrity of the organs containing them.

Although asbestos is also released into the air naturally, most mesothelioma cancer patients develop this condition by working in asbestos-related environments. This involves military service in the Navy as well as commercial Navy, working in construction, and working as insulators. By compromising the structural integrity of your cells, asbestos allows microbes to get inside the cells and cause the appearance of this form of cancer, thus making patients develop mesothelioma symptoms in a matter of months.

Mesothelioma Symptoms
Due to the fact that early mesothelioma symptoms involve chest pains, shortness of breath and coughing, mesothelioma is extremely difficult to diagnose. There are so many other afflictions responsible for these symptoms that medical personnel usually prescribe common treatments for what initially appears to be a common condition.

It isn’t until 10-15 years later that patients start to develop more serious mesothelioma symptoms such as abdominal pain and swelling, nausea, and loss of appetite. Bowel and breathing obstruction is also to be expected in individuals who experience the later stages of mesothelioma.

Types of Mesothelioma Cancer
Among the different types of mesothelioma we find: epithelial mesothelioma, pleural mesothelioma, lung lining cancer, peritoneal mesothelioma, mesentery cancer, and pericardial mesothelioma.
Epithelial mesothelioma is a form of cancer that affects the membrane lining of the chest cavity, and it causes the appearance of a mesothelioma inside the heart of the lungs. A mesothelioma is a small tumor that appears as a result of the cancer affecting the mesothelium cells within a certain organ. The most common form of epithelial mesothelioma is the pleural mesothelioma.

The pleural mesothelioma is the most common form of mesothelioma cancer and it involves the pleura (thin membrane between the lungs and chest cavity). You see, the pleura are responsible for providing a lubricated surface to protect the lungs from rubbing against the chest walls. Pleural mesothelioma is generally fatal within the first year of being diagnosed, although it depends whether it is a “diffuse and malignant”, or a “localized and benign” form of pleural mesothelioma as the last one is not life-threatening and can be removed through surgery.

Lung lining cancer causes the thin membrane of the lungs surrounding the organs to get compromised. Being a by-product of pleural mesothelioma, lung lining cancer may not always be caused by exposure to asbestos, although it can be fatal due to the fact that it generally spreads to other parts of the body (lungs, chest wall, and lymph nodes) and it is rather deadly.

Peritoneum mesothelioma manifests itself through a mesothelioma in the peritoneum membrane. Although being quite rare, this type of mesothelioma is one of the deadliest forms of the disease, as it compromises a person’s abdomen in less than a year.

There is no treatment for peritoneum mesothelioma, as the fact that it compromises a person’s mesothelium cells so quickly makes this strain of cancer very difficult to research.
Mesentery cancer is a form of territorial cancer. This mesothelioma causes different sections of the peritoneum to lose the grip it has on the organs inside the abdominal cavity. It includes all abdominal peritoneum extensions, and the tumors that appear as a result facilitate the spread of mesothelioma to other organs.

Pericardial mesothelioma has to be the rarest form of mesothelioma. It affects the pericardial sac (membrane surrounding the heart) by causing the appearance of solid masses on the pericardial sac, as well as the development of fluids around the pericardium. However, not all conditions causing the appearance of fluids around the pericardium are related to mesothelioma.

Mesothelioma Treatment
Although there is no mesothelioma treatment with a 100% success rate, regular cancer treatments such as radiation and chemotherapy seem to work just fine in situations where the cancer is discovered early. In situations where the disease presents itself by the appearance of a mesothelioma on removable tissue, surgery is the preferred course of action.

This is done after careful consideration regarding the spread pattern of the tumors, whether they are benign or malignant, and if surgery is 100% necessary. Judging by the fact that it sometimes takes 10-20 years for the patient to develop mesothelioma symptoms and manifest physical pain as a result, we are safe to assume that the metastasis of mesothelioma can be slowed down by more traditional methods such as healthy diets and reduced exposure to environments containing asbestos fibers.

Most of the time, mesothelioma therapy involves a series of MRI’s, CT scans and x-rays, as well as a biopsy to determine what type of mesothelioma treatment should be used. At this point, an expert oncologist will determine what the best course of action is, and it may involve surgery, radiation treatment, and chemotherapy. They will choose the most suitable treatment according to the stage of the cancer, where its location is, whether the tumors are benign or malignant, the spread of the mesothelioma, and the patient’s age, before taking any course of action.

Peritoneal Mesothelioma

Peritoneal Mesothelioma orginates in the abdomen, and often spreads to other organs in the area, including the liver, spleen, and bowel. Peritoneal Mesothelioma patients most commonly report severe abdominal pain as an initial symptom. Fluid build up in the abdomen may also cause additional pain for Peritoneal Mesothelioma patients. Other additional symptoms of Peritoneal Mesothelioma include fever, swollen feet, nausea and vomiting, and difficulty during bowel movements.

The survival rate of Peritoneal Mesothelioma patients is the worst of all types of Mesothelioma. Peritoneal Mesothelioma patients typically only survive ten months from the initial onset of symptoms.

Pleural Mesothelioma

Pleural Mesothelioma often originates within the chest and sometimes can involve the lungs. Pleural Mesothelioma frequently mestasizes to many other organs in the body, including the brain.

Pleural Mesothelioma is not easily diagnosed as the symptoms are frequently mild in the early stages of the disease. Pleural Mesothelioma patients usually report constant pain in the chest, weight loss, and fever. Occasionaly, some Pleural Mesothelioma patients report more severe symtoms, which can include problems breathing due to fluid build up in the chest. A CT Scan of the chest area has proven to be the best test to gauge how for long Pleural Mesothelioma has progressed.

The survival rate for Pleural Mesothelioma patients is rather low. Typically, Pleural Mesothelioma patients do not live beyond seventeen months from the onset of symptoms.

Asbestos

Asbestos exposure is the leading risk factor associated with Mesothelioma. Asbestos is an insulating material composed of magnesium-silicate mineral fibers. Since researchers have indentified increasing links between Mesothelioma and asbestos exposure, the material is now rarely used. Prior to the discovery of this connection, millions of people across the world have experienced serious exposure to this dangerous material.

Blue collar workers are often at the highest risk of developing Mesothelioma due to asbestos from occupational exposure at mines, shipyards, factories, construction sites, and other industries. The who install asbestos based insulation are clearly at the highest risk of exposure. It is not rare for family members to receive second hand exposure to asbestos from dust and fibers brought into the home, and therefore, also becoming at risk to developing Mesothelioma.

Research reveals that inhaled asbestos fibers cause a physical irritation resulting in Mesothelioma based cancers. The long and thin, amphibole fibers in asbestos, do not easily clear from the body, and then they embed into the lining of the lungs and chest resulting in Mesothelioma. It is beleived that coughing up and swallowing asbestos contributes to the formation of Peritoneal Mesothelioma, a type of Mesothelioma that originates in the abdomen.

The duration and amount of asbestos exposure is directly proportional to the chance of contriving Mesothelioma. People with high exposure at a young age for extended periods of time are in the most danger. It is also important to note that Mesothelioma can take a long time to manifest in the body. In some cases, thirty to forty years can pass from the time of asbestos exposure to the initial symptoms of Mesothelioma.

Worker’s Compensation

Those who were exposed to asbestos in the work place and who eventually were inflected with Mesothelioma can file a worker’s compensation claim because it is an occupational disease arising out of their employment.

This was confirmed in the courts ruling in Pierce v. Johns-Manville Sales Corp. case in which the defined, an “Occupational disease” as a “disease contracted by a covered employee (1) as the result of and in the course of employment; and (2) that causes the covered employee to become temporarily or permanently, partially or totally incapacitated.

As long as the Mesothelioma was the result of and was obtained in the course of employment then a person has the right to file a worker’s compensation claim for those inflictions.  Next, if the injury can be seen to have followed as a natural incident of the work and to have been contemplated by a reasonable personal familiar with the whole situation as a result of the exposure accessioned by the nature of the employment, then it is deem to have arise of the employment.  See Schemmel v. T.B. Gatch & Sons Contracting & Building Co.

Finally the claimed under worker’s compensation must be compensable for the claim to be successful.

Mesothelioma Symptoms Diagnosis

Diagnosing Mesothelioma
Be a rare form of cancer, mesothelioma cannot be easily diagnosed. Because the symptoms are similar to common illnesses and diseases, mesothelioma is not easily recognized, and most of the time, doctors are also not familiar with the disease. Another reason for the difficulty in the diagnosis of cancer is a long latency period.

Symptoms take about 20-50 years to appear. At the moment they appear, and the patient goes to the doctor for problems s / he has, they forgot to mention they have been exposed to asbestos in the past.

In most cases, when appropriate tests are run and the patient was diagnosed with mesothelioma, it is too late to do something worthwhile and save the patient's life.
Mesothelioma attacks the human body in 3 areas. It can attack both lining of the lungs, chest or abdominal cavity to release different sets of symptoms in each case of mesothelioma.

Once again some people have no symptoms at all.
However, if there is reason to believe that you are suffering from mesothelioma cancer, your doctor may want you and your medical history must complete a physical examination. The doctor will then perform one or more of the following diagnostic tests:

The mesothelioma diagnosis can be done through careful assessment of clinical and radiological findings followed by tissue biopsy confirmation. Patient's medical history should be reviewed, including a history of asbestos exposure, followed by a complete physical examination, x-ray of the abdomen and chest, and lung function tests. CT scan or MRI may also be done at this time. If there are indications of mesothelioma using one test, a biopsy is performed to confirm the diagnosis.

Doctors who perform the diagnosis of mesothelioma can use a needle biopsy the mass, or the removal and examination of fluid around the lung for diagnosis. Sometimes the sample is not adequate as far as determining the type of cell (sarcomata’s, epithelial, or mixed) or because of unreliability of fluid diagnosis, your doctor may recommend an open pleural biopsy. In a pleural biopsy procedure, the surgeon makes a small incision through the chest wall and inserts a thin, lighted tube called a thoracoscope into the chest between two ribs.

The surgeon then removes a sample of tissue that a pathologist will review under a microscope. In a peritoneal biopsy, the doctor makes a small incision in the abdomen and inserting peritoneoscope into the abdominal cavity. Mesothelioma is a very complex disease, and even though you get a diagnosis from your local doctor, you might also want to check out another doctor for your mesothelioma diagnosis.

Some Steps to Diagnose Mesothelioma
When you go for a checkup, make sure that you tell your doctor about your medical history and all the symptoms that you are facing. This helps in the diagnosis of disease. Mesothelioma symptoms such as abdominal pain, weight loss, nausea, vomiting and cough similar to colds and flu.

If any of these symptoms in your clear and you also have a history of asbestos exposure, you should immediately see a doctor and explain all your symptoms in detail. Your doctor may run tests to diagnose if you have mesothelioma:

Complete Physical Examination
Doctors can perform a complete physical examination and check for any incident or unusual swelling in the body. In case of respiratory problems, your doctor can listen and record any abnormal breathing patterns cough.

Patient Medical History
Doctors will collect a patient's medical history that would give insight into the past and provide clues about the patient's exposure to asbestos. If the patient had been working in asbestos related industries, doctors will be able to know the link and make a correct diagnosis.

X-rays and scans
Mesothelioma can also be diagnosed with the help of the chest or abdominal X-ray. CT scan or MRI scan may also be taken if necessary. It scans and X-rays help to give an idea of??The places affected by the cancer cells and tumors that assist physicians in diagnosing disease.

Biopsy
If any of the above mentioned tests indicate the presence of mesothelioma, a biopsy is done to confirm the diagnosis. A biopsy can be of various types. A doctor may insert a needle into the affected area and get a sample of infected tissue.

In some cases, because the test is not 100% reliable, the doctor may also recommend an open pleural biopsy. In this type, a small incision is made in the chest wall and a thin lighted tube is inserted between two ribs. A portion of the affected tissue is removed and examined under a microscope for mesothelioma.

Diagnostic tests mesothelioma
Bronchoscopy or mediastinoscopy one is two tests in which the doctor can see the affected area with the help of a light tube inserted.
With the help of cytology, pleural fluid doctor can check for cancer cells.

Thoracoscopy or laparoscopy is an authentic diagnostic test to check for the presence of mesothelioma in the pleura or peritoneum biopsies respectively.
PET scans other tests that can help doctors in diagnosing mesothelioma stage or extent of disease in the body.

All diagnostic tests are as reliable as they can get. However, none of them provide accurate results showed 100% presence of mesothelioma. For this reason, doctors perform more than one test to ensure patients suffering from mesothelioma before starting any treatment.
